Wow!!  Fantastic post!  Rarely do I reblog from the same source in rapid succession, but grrrrrl, you’re on fire!  I love your balanced rationality and thorough explanation.  Stepping back, taking a deep breath, and looking at the facts (even when it’s tough to do so), and spelling them out so patiently in a piece that takes such an original point of view, providing such original information.  Bravo, amiga!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼💜💜

If you never go on Twitter (and I don’t blame you if you don’t), you may have not heard about all the brouhaha around the memoir “To Siri With Love”, written by the mother of an autistic boy. It’s triggered a whole lot of #ActuallyAutistic people with its passages, as well as the author’s (defiant) responses to her critics.

I’ve read portions of the book (I’m working my way through my library copy now), and all I can say is… ouch. I mean, some parts are not bad. Some are even good. But on the whole, it chafes. Like the rough fabric and seams in the clothing I had to wear (no other options) when I was a kid. Like the feel of sleeves rubbing on my wrists.
